Back On My Shit ๐Ÿ“

Over the holidays I tried out Swift again. I really like the language. Not so much the ecosystem, there is still much churn on the non-Apple side.

The Linux version worked reasonably well on Debian using Gnome Builder and using https://aparoksha.dev/, at least until it didnโ€™t. Out of the blue I started getting compile errors. I finally traced them down to s dependancy on a SQLite3 wrapper package buried in the dependencies in the package manager. They are furiously patching it on github, and in the meantime I get different error messages with each commit.

Charming ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿง.

I have a similar story using the wasm SDK

All of this is very frustrating. โ€œEvery day is Chrismas for Swift Developersโ€? Maybe if you can afford Apple hardware.

So fuck it. This is just one more reason to stick with c23
